The rise of the no-code movement

No-code might ring a bell or be a completely new concept but one thing is for sure: This year you will hear about it a lot. Here’s why. Surprising? Not so much. The value of no-code is clear as day. It allows people who have big ideas but no coding skills to start creating immediately. Businesses can cut time, automate processes and alleviate developers. Entrepreneurs can save money and move faster by taking matters into their own hands.

So tell me, what is no-code?

Traditional development is an exhaustive process of writing a blueprint (design) followed by coding (write code), testing (test code) and finally deployment (deliver code to live production environment). This is extremely time-consuming and the quality of the code is largely dependent on the experience and knowledge of the people building it. Also, if the code breaks, it means starting all over again.

No-code software, or what is known as “no code”, does not require all this. Instead, developers write and run their solutions directly in the web browser. It does not require writing any code and yet is incredibly powerful. And it does not have to be limited to web apps but it is rapidly becoming an alternative to traditional backend-only development.
